To demonstrate further the principles and significance of polymer chemistry I have chosen to focus on the household name of Teflon(R) - that is polytetrafluoroethene (PTFE).
NB. Polytetrafluorothene is the IUPAC-approved systematic name, and I will use it throughout my web pages. It is worth noting, however, that PTFE is also often referred to as polytetrafluoroethylene.
