This website will introduce you to the world of fuels which are used for the purpose of travel. It will outline the way we travelled in the past, what makes it possible for us to use transport today and possibilities for our travel evolution in the future. The main aims of my site are to explain how the fuels that we use, have used or are set to use are produced and how they work - enabling to move around the world faster, with less effort and more energetic efficiency.
The first part of the site is entitled "Powers of the past" and concentrates on how the very first engines that were used in boats, trains and cars were powered. Although this section doesn't deal with very much chemistry (mainly basic physics) I feel that it is important to show how our knowledge of, and use of, transportation methods has evolved.
"Todays travel" discusses the fuels which we use in our everyday lives for the purpose of travel today. The first sub-section under this heading tells how the different fuels are obtained and developed. The following section explains how they work and what makes them able to power our vehicles and the third part discusses problems caused by these fuels and ways that we have overcome some of these unwanted side effects.
The final section of the site is called "Fuels for the future" and offers possible alternatives that are being developed or will be worked upon in the hope of eliminating the problems that we presently have with our fuels. This section also includes development of spaceship power sources in order to travel longer, faster, with less bulk to carry.
