Adhesive : A substance which can join solids due to strong adhesive bond, i.e. bond created by forces of intermolecular and chemical links, which is formed between surfaces of solids and adhesive film.
Coefficient of friction : The ratio of the frictional force on a body to the force bewteen it and a surface.
Hydrophilic : Polar group that has an affinity for water (i.e. water-loving).
Hydrophobic : Nonpolar molecule/group that ha s little affinity for water (i.e. water-hating).
Monomer : A small molecule that is linked with a large number of small molecules to form a chain or network (a ploymer).
Polymer : A large molecule made by linking smaller molecules (monomers) together.
Radical polymerization : Polymerization that is initiated by radicals, after which a carbon backbone grows via a chain reaction.
Sintering : The thermal treatment of a powder or compact at a temperature below the melting point of the main constituent, for the purpose of increasing its strength by bonding together of the particles.
Solubility : Quantity of solute that dissolves a given quantity of a solvent to form a saturated solution.
Surface tension: Energy required to increase the surface of a liquid by an unit area. Tension arises as a result of attractive forces between individual molecules of liquid.
Translucent : Permitting light to pass, but in such a way that images cannot be clearly distinguished.
Viscosity : The resistance a liquid exhibits to flow.
Volatile : Describes a substance that can easily become a vapour.
