Where it Comes From

Rubber is obtained from the sap of certain trees, this tree sap we call latex.
One such tree commonly used to commercialy obtain latex is the Hevea brasiliensis.
This natural rubber is a very different product compared to what is sold commercially, although this rubber
can be used to erase pencil which is where the name originates from. Natural rubber is a brittle and material
and therefore does not streach, or would not bounce. To become the rubber we know and see in every day
life various processes must be done to it to make it less temperature sensitive and to give it all of the
qualities which we see in comercial rubber.
