Glossary

 

 

Allotropy - The existence, especially in the solid state, of two or more crystalline or molecular structural forms of an element.

Amorphous - Having no determinate form, irregular; shapeless and non crystalline..

Colloidal - Of divided particles, which are approximately 10 to 10,000 angstroms in size.

Desiccant - A substance, such as calcium oxide or silica gel, that has a high affinity for water and is used as a drying agent.

Polycrystalline - Composed of aggregates of crystals. Of many crystals.
