This element was discovered in 1984 by P. Armbruster and G. MŸzenburg in Darmstadt, Germany. It is named after the German state of Hesse, where the German Nuclear Institute in located. Only a few atoms of this highly radioactive metal have been made and it is only used for research purpsoes.
