Rutherfordium

This element was discovered in 1964 by a group of scientists based in Dubna, near Moscow in Russia. It was also done by A. Ghiorso and co-workers in 1969. The element is named after Lord Rutherford, a physicist and chemist from New Zealand. Only a few atoms of this radioactive metal have ever been made and it is only used for research.
