The Chemistry of Photography

This website will deal primarily with the black and white photographic process. Understanding the photographic process involves a study of a unique chemical reaction. It concerns the biomolecular interaction of a light quantum and a molecule and the chemical and physical changes resulting from the interaction. The nature of the light sensitive materials used must be studied along with the factors that control that sensitivity, the changes that light induces, the development and the properties of the final image.
